The Journal of Geospatial Surveying (JGS) is a peer reviewed journal aiming to publish scientific research and technical developments in the field of Geoinformatics and Surveying. Its goal is to provide a forum for Sri Lankan and international scholars to publish high quality articles on current issues in the field. Papers dealing with innovations in theoretical, experimental and system design aspects are welcome. However, routine applications without significant findings will not be considered for publication. | Focus and Scope |
The Journal of Geospatial Surveying is a peer reviewed journal aiming to publish original and fundamental research, and technical developments in the field of Geoinformatics and Surveying, encompassing Land Surveying, Hydrographic Surveying, Remote Sensing, Photogrammetry, Cartography, Geographic Information System, Global Positioning Systems, and Land Management. Its goal is to provide a forum for Sri Lankan and international scholars to publish high quality articles dealing with innovations in theoretical, experimental and system design aspects. Research papers submitted for publication should have a sound disciplinary basis, and cross-disciplinary contributions are also encouraged. Papers submitted are strictly double blind peer reviewed, and a third reviewer will be contacted in the case where contrasting reviews are received. | Frequency of Publication |
The Journal of JGS will publish 2 issues per year-in April and October, and submissions are welcome throughout the year. At present, Journal of JGS also publishes peer reviewed papers of international and national level conferences conducted by various research and academic institutions. |

From the Editor-In-Chief
The Faculty of Geomatics offers high quality geomatics related degrees and consists of a well qualified staff and latest technological resource. The faculty was established in 2004 as the successor of the Department of Surveying Sciences, which introduced the BSc in Surveying Sciences Degree Programme in 1997. Throughout the past decades it is being greatly developed both in infrastructure and human resources.
